ResearchCobbett Lab Topic 3: Glutathione is essential for growth and development and plays an important role in responses to heavy metal stress. We have previously shown that glutathione-deficient mutants are cadmium-sensitive. More severe glutathione-deficient mutants are either affected in root development or fail to develop as embryos. Work in this area is aimed at exploring the roles of glutathione in development and mechanisms of glutathione transport.
