Research
Ecological genetics, speciation and phylogenetics of wildlife.
Dr. Belinda Appleton
We investigate the processes of evolution and speciation in natural populations. We are interested in the processes of micro-differentiation, subsequent speciation and the effect on species diversity in different parts of the world. On a finer scale we study population structure and interactions between populations. The findings of this work are important to the development of effective species management plans.
Our research uses a multi-disciplinary approach which includes ecology, morphology, geography and genetic analysis. In this research we collaborate with both Australian and international institutions, including Universities and Museums.
